Beau Book 2014 — 2024
The consistent and qualitative photographic and textual material about their project was put forward by a sharp layout main part. The outgrowth of the photos beyond the pages is inspired by the original photographic proportion confronted with the A4 DIN format. This format was chosen for its off-the-shelf standard, a cherished practice of the architects, and also for inhouse printed translation booklets to be easily added. The silk paper enhances the fine photographic quality.
A second part featuring a list and maps of their projects is printed on a warmer uncoated tinted paper. Acknowledgements and four conversations are also found in this section. These are interviews with different clients and dive deep in BEAU’s practice ways. They are more literate, and are illustrated by photos, schemes. Text highlights, found in magazines, offer better accessibility depending on the reader's mood.
The printed object itself with loose covers binded by a H cross rubber band is directly inspired by the bluntness of their architectural practice, in their words ‘never afraid to show how things are built’.
