WBDM — identity

identity
For the new visual identity of Wallonie Bruxelles Design Mode – (a state agency representing designers and companies working in fashion and design) – several specificities had to be taken into account. On the one hand, a strong and outstanding visual identity was needed, reflecting the spirit of WBDM, and on the other hand, a sufficiently refined edge to focus the light on the promoted creators.
To achieve this dichotomy, we crossed and matched different graphic design materials (typographies, patterns, colours, compositions and shapes) between frontal and subtle winks. For example, the logo is based on a font mix, matching the particularity of the areas of expertise of WBDM, namely fashion and design.
Echoing the relationship of a defining lapel on a jacket or a particular haptic of a push bouton; the other graphic design elements such as the contrasting use of colours, the strong shapes or patterns are tactfully displayed. Reflecting the attention to detail specific to this industry, each element of the identity becomes the place for a careful balance between elegance and daring, reflecting some characteristics of the Belgian spirit.

Anouk Boyer Mazal is a Brussels based photographer. We commissioned her to do our portfolio of pictures but also for an imaginative series where you can glimpse our favourite projects (the last photo on this page).
