This graphic and artistic intervention aims at questioning with humour the embellishment of the canal area which has been carried out for several years for the benefit – or to the detriment – of its inhabitants. The installation Nail Polish also refers to the codes of fashion and aesthetics. Affixed upon a building dedicated to these disciplines brings on a surreal tone. The transformation of an emoji in large format usually visible on our small cellphone screens also echos a contemporary contrast between physical and virtual realities. This digital symbol comes alive here, in a tangible reality and also in a lengthened time frame.

The VIEWS project aims to showcase some 20 graphic design studios. By choosing common visual codes of our digital communication, Kidnap Your Designer also questions playfully graphic design itself in this offbeat proposition.
