The exhibition is about migrant life in European towns but the main focus is on Pernot's latest work about the Greek island of Lesbos in 2020 where thousands of migrants are gathered in terrible conditions. An blunt photograph of a child warming his feet by a bonfire was chosen for the communication design of this exhibition.

This exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Belgium is a retrospective of French photographer Mathieu Pernot. The exhibition is about migrant life in European towns but the main focus is on Pernot's latest work about the Greek island of Lesbos in 2020 where thousands of migrants are gathered in terrible conditions. This exhibition portrays the unease of the privileged role of the photographer in such situations, and questions the public about the place of art on highly political subjects.
